on edge - media & performance festival

On Edge media and performance festival ran for a number of years across the Cairns region. 

Launched in 2005, the event had starts and stops in its continuity, and aimed to present bi-annually.

With a focus on sound art, new media, contemporary performance and experimental practice, On Edge was rare in its time for bringing together, and bridging, diverse forms for regional audiences.

Co-produced initially by Rebecca Youdell, Russell Milledge and Nicholas Mills, On Edge evolved in its later years to be directed by Nicholas.

Across various venues, traditional and non-traditional, and public spaces, On Edge developed a broad program with key partnerships with National programs including Reel Dance (dance on screen festival) and Liquid Architecture (sound arts festival).

Venues included strategic government supported as-saves such as Tanks Arts Centre and the CoCA, the Cairns Lagoon and City Mall, and artist run spaces such as MOFO, Arthouse and crate59.
